Voluntary Blood Donation Camp Marks World Blood Donor Day in Korea District; 31 Donors Participate


Baikunthpur, Korea: On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, a grand voluntary blood donation camp and felicitation ceremony was organized at SECL Gautam Sadan, Baikunthpur. The event was jointly conducted by the Indian Red Cross Society, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), and the Department of Health and Family Welfare. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from public representatives, administrative officials, healthcare professionals, social organizations, and citizens committed to the cause of humanitarian service.

The chief guest of the program, Korea Collector Mrs. Roktima Yadav, inspired everyone by personally donating blood. Addressing the gathering, she emphasized the importance of blood donation and stated that “Blood donation is life donation. A single unit of blood can give a new lease of life to someone in need.” She highlighted that timely availability of blood is crucial for accident victims, patients undergoing emergency treatment, children suffering from thalassemia, cancer patients, and pregnant women facing medical complications,

Mrs. Yadav appealed especially to the youth to participate regularly in blood donation drives and encouraged every healthy citizen to donate blood at least once a year. She said that voluntary blood donation not only saves lives but also strengthens the spirit of humanity, compassion, and social responsibility in society.

Among the dignitaries present were SECL Baikunthpur Area General Manager Naresh Prasad, District Panchayat President Mohit Paikara, District Panchayat Vice-President Mrs. Vandana Rajwade, Additional Superintendent of Police Mrs. Suresha Choubey, Red Cross Society Korea State Representative Kamlesh Sharma, District Chairman Mahendra Baidya, Vice-Chairperson Mrs. Geeta Rajwade, Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Prashant Singh, and Civil Surgeon-cum-Superintendent of District Hospital Dr. Ayush Jaiswal.

Speaking on the occasion, SECL General Manager Naresh Prasad described blood donation as one of the noblest forms of charity. He said that a blood donor represents the highest example of service to humanity, as donated blood can save precious lives during critical medical situations.

Additional Superintendent of Police Mrs. Suresha Choubey termed blood donation a “Mahadan” (great donation) and urged all eligible citizens to join the movement. She also highlighted the health benefits associated with regular blood donation, including the generation of new blood cells and overall positive effects on the donor’s health.

A total of 31 voluntary blood donors participated in the camp, setting an inspiring example of social commitment and humanitarian service. All donors were honored with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their valuable contribution.

One of the highlights of the event was the gesture of HMS General Secretary Yogendra Mishra, who donated blood on his birthday, continuing his annual tradition of celebrating the occasion through social service. His act was widely appreciated as a symbol of dedication and selfless commitment toward society.

The program was attended by District Program Manager Ashraf Ansari, committee members Shailesh Shivhare, Basant Rai, Himanshu Awasthi, Dr. Gaurav Baderiya, Ashish Baderiya, and Shailendra Sharma, along with Dr. Biraji (CMO, SECL Hospital Chirmiri), Hari Yadav (HMS President), Dr. Rohit (SECL Hospital Baikunthpur), members of Shraddha Mahila Mandal and Soumya Mahila Samiti, healthcare staff, and a large number of citizens.

The event concluded with a collective pledge to promote voluntary blood donation and ensure the availability of safe blood for those in need. Speakers unanimously stressed that every healthy individual can contribute to saving lives through blood donation, making it one of the most meaningful acts of human service.
